    please help

    Hi Everyone,

I thought I was semi-computer literate but my recent experiences with Z-wave has humbled me.  I was hoping someone on the board could help me out. My goal was to control my Vizia Z-Wave dimmers with my Universal Remote Control.   Here is my set up:

     3 x Vizia Z-Wave Dimmers

    1 x Vizia 4-Scene Controller.

My thought process was that I could get use an IR blaster and attach it to the IR slots on the 4-scene controller to give me some sort of RF/IR (through my Universal Remote Control MX-910) control.  I first purchased an Intermatic set that contained 2 HA03 lamp modules and a HA07 "12 channel Radio Transmitter/Receiver.  I got the 2 lamp modules and 3 Vizia dimmers to work via the Intermatic controller but could never get it to add the 4-scene controller to the network.  My next mistake was to purchase the the ThinkEssentials Pro pack with the USB computer adaptor and software.  With my 3rd beta software load - v.2.1.0.6, I still cannot get the 4-scene controller associated with the network.  Using the ThinkEssentials software, I can add the lamp modules and the dimmers, but no dice on the 4-scene controllers.

I have read the instructions what seems like 100 times on the 4-scene controller and am about to toss it out the window and give up.  Can anyone help?  Would someone please show me where I can get step-by-step instructions on adding the 4-scene controller?  How to I add it, and then, how and what is "associating it?"

    Thank you for any help!

    Jtw372,

To add the 4-scene controller to your network using the Intermatic handheld as primary, you need to put the remote in "controller replication send" mode while putting the 4-scene controller into "learn/programming mode."

To add the 4-scene controller to your network using your PC and ThinkEssenitals as primary, you need to put the 4-scene controller into "learn/programming mode" and then press "Add Device" in the software.

If you'd like to help us beta test the new scene controller setup feature in ThinkEssentials 2.1, please PM me.  Otherwise, we'll have it posted by early next week as a public beta at the latest and you can download it there and then.  The new verison includes the feature you seek.

    Re: please help

    Thanks Chris,

I have tried to add the 4 scene controller as a device to the network using the PC as my primary controller.  Here's the steps i have taken to try and get it added.

     1)  Push and hold the first and third buttons on the 4-scene controller

    2)  Hold until lights turn amber

    3) Click on "add device" button in ThinkEssentials software

    4)  Receive something to the effect of "cannot add device," or "error adding device"

I have tried just about everything I can think of like pushing buttons once it is amber....resetting the 4 scene until the lights turn red and resetting it.

I know you are not intermattic support but when I read the manual, I cannot figure out how to put the handheld in "control replicator send" mode.

    I will PM You.

    Thanks Chris.

    jtw372,

How close is your Z-Wave USB adapter to the 4-scene controller when you add it to ThinkEssentials?  Within 1-2 feet?

    Re: please help

I have it on a laptop running Vista.  So, literally right next to it.
