Slaving a lamp dimming module to a remote switch. Possible? With Vizia-RF?

I'd like to setup the following:

1.) I have an existing switched outlet in the room with a lamp attached to it.  The lamp is permanently turned on.  I have a Vizia RF RZI10-1LW switch controlling that outlet.  This bit works perfectly well.

2.) There's an outlet on the other side of the room.  I'd like to plug in a lamp through a lamp module there and slave that lamp module to the state of the switch on the other outlet.  I'd like to two lamps to always have the same state (on/off/dim level).  Assume for the purposes of this conversation that nobody ever touches the light switches on the lamps themselves.  They're always on.

The switch and lamp in question are both Leviton Vizia RF (Which is one reason I post this here, since ControlThink is now or soon will be part of Leviton.)

The switch is an RZI10-1LW.  The lamp modules is an RZP03-1LW.

        Things I've tried so far:

a.) putting the switch in assocation group 1 of the lamp module.

b.) Putting the lamp module in association group 1 of the switch

     Neither seems to work.

I'm pretty sure I can make this work with HomeSeer, but I'd prefer to keep the computer out of the equation.  I've found that if I let the RZCPG remote run things, things work well.  Historically, bringing the computer into it has at least halved the reliability of the resulting system.

     Questions:

a.) Have you attempted something like this?  Can you share your results, positive or negative?

b.) Would the results be different with a different manufacturer or either the switch, the lamp dimmer, or both?  I've seen the "Virtual 3-way" application note on Leviton's site.  I found it both short on details and assuming two in-box switches.  I want to do this with a lamp module, though.

Hints appreciated.  Being told it just isn't possible appreciated too.

    Jeff,

There are a couple ways you can do this--although they'll require swapping out hardware.

    1. You can remove the RZI10-1LW and let the outlet be "always on."  Then, plug in Vizia RF lamp modules in both locations and use one of the Vizia RF 1-button scene controllers to turn both lamp modules on/off.  The 1-button zone controllers may do the trick too--but you'll want to make sure they can be linked to more than one device before you go that route.
    2. You can use some sort of PC or other smart controller in the middle of the equation to detect the state change and/or synchronize the loads.
    3. A number of other manufacturers support the scenario you were already trying (Intermatic HomeSettings, Intermatic InTouch, and Cooper Aspire RF may work that way--although you'll want verification there before you do that).

It may be possible to make the Vizia RF devices work in other ways to satisfy your requirements; you may want to contact your installer or appropriate technical support for details.

    Chris
