(Urgent)Should I pay any fee to ControlThink ?

Hi..there..

I'm a software developer and working on home auto. system company, I want to know if I use ControlThink SDK to write my software program, of course I will sell my software to any home consumer, Do I or my client have to pay any fee to ControlThink ?

If so, I have to report my manager and consider that do we still use SDK or not?

Cant use USB stick - lost license key

Sounds like im s.o.l. ! I haven't done any programming with my Z-wave think stick for over a year, and have since switched computers. I no longer have the license key and cant find my CD. All I have now is a useless USB think stick, a couple of dimmers, and plug in modules. This sucks! Can anyone help me here?

Hi Chris,

What is the status with the Java sdk? Are you really working it out?

For my needs, I want to program a home automation in JEE to deploy it in other OS than Windows such as Linux (SLES, Mandrake,...)

In .NET we are bind to program with Microsoft's Visual Studio (express or not), use IIS and the expensive Windows OS! In Linux or Windows, more open source program like jboss & apache can be use to make it less expensive for Java deployment!

Why can't I get events??

Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can help me here, I've looked through the forums but I'm lost...

I have a plugin module which I can turn on/off no problem through a windows form using the SDK version 1.3.0.23, but I've tried many ways to raise an event when I manually turn on/off the device. I have setup the event handler but it never gets used!

I see things about groups/associations/syncenabled etc - I can't even use the syncenabled (is this my problem?). My ThinkStick teasingly flashes when I manually turn on/off the device so I know it's being sent; I just can't seem to grab the bugger!

I just want to set up a few devices and handle events when they occur - I'm I missing something? Please help if you can, it'll be appreciated.

I looked at the first post here that has a link to how to purchase the Z-Wave PC sdk, but that leads me to nowhere.

It sends you to a ContolThink web page that lists the details and has a "Buy now" button which then sends you to a page that has two compnaies listed to purchase on-line from which are ASIHome and Smarthome. I have scoured both of their websites and I don't see the ContolThink Z-Wave PC sdk.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe a link to where I purchase it.

Flex-Control Smoke detector

Hi,
i bought an flex-control smoke detector from a Danish webshop today.
But i got some problems. It is recognized as an basic ZWave Device. However, it does not throw events and i can not read any propertys like level or something.
Is it not supported by the sdk?

Windows 7 drivers for original Intermatic HA22?

I have the original Intermatic HA22 USB stick that came with the SDK when it first came out. I am not having any luck installing this in Windows 7 x64. I tried the drivers that worked in Vista (that I got from this forum) as well as the drivers from the Intermatic website for the newer HA23. The newer drivers seem to install ok (there is no warning at least) but the HA22 shows a yellow exclamation point next to it in Device Manager. Is there anyone who has been able to get this to work?

Windows 7 64-Bit Broke My App?

I have an application that was written on Windows Vista (32-bit) and Visual Basic 2008 Express, fully updated. This application functioned perfectly. I wiped my workstation recently and upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) RTM. I am still using the latest version of Visual Basic 2008 Express. My application stopped working...

Curious, I opened the source and through setting some breakpoints discovered that the application is failing when it tries to connect to the ThinkStick (running latest stable firmware, v4.27 I think). Oddly, I can still run ThinkEssentials and it communicates with the controller and the network nodes great...

I became more curious and pulled out the sample enumerating code that came with the SDK and tried to compile it, it fails when connecting to the controller. Even a new application from scratch that just connects to the controller fails...

I have even tried changing the advanced compilation options to only target x86 CPUs and not 64-bit... So... Am I missing something or is there a known incompatibility with Windows 7 64-bit and the SDK?

Any help would be appreciated. Failing an answer I think I might revert back to Vista, which is a bummer as Windows 7 is way better.

HRDS1 Help

Here is what I am looking to do... I am in the security industry and have access to a lot of cool toys... I have a hawking HRDS1 Door sensor hooked up to one of my access control systems... I would like to have a valid card read send an output or closure to the HRDS1 sensor and in turn have the sensor turn on the lights. I cant seem to get the sensor to work in the thinkessentials application and would love to write an app that will ride on my windows pc and listen for a state change from the HRDS1 senor and activate lighting controls.I just dont know where to start...

Sharing sample applications

Hi We are just beginning to work with the SDK, and documentation is pretty sparse. One think that would be great is if people might share sample applications (even basic ones) to help the community built apps the right way. Any help or source contribution appreciated!

Crashes System after long term use but idle (more than 2 hours).

I am currently working on a C# application building on top of v.1.3 Beta which is finished and operational. After some period of time (yet indeterminate, but tracking to see if there is a pattern), the system will crash hard with the following blue screen of death and immediately reboot Windows XP SP2. The reboot blocks at the splash screen and freezes. Hard reset works and reboots Windows normally.

I have reviewed the various posts in the forum and attempted each of them, but none seem to work. I have the minidump files and will send them if needed.

Can you tell me if the SDK1.3 will respond to an event broadcast by the Fortrezz WWA-001 water sensor?

According to their website, "The WWA-01 sends the Basic Set Command to the associated nodes assigned to Group1 to convey that a Water Alarm is active. If no nodes are assigned to Group 1, then an Alarm Sensor report (Sensor Type 0x05) is broadcast."

Controlling Shutters

Hi , i was wondering.. is this SDK compatible with any of the window shutters controls currently available in the market today, i have been currently looking at the zmerten502519 shuter controller available on this site : http://www.eurox10.com/Product/ZWave/Actuators/ZWmerten502519.htm does anyone know if this would be compatible with the SDK since im not sure if its just a simple ON and OFF commands that lets the shutter go up or down. or are there any z-wave compatible shutter control devices currently available , since i want the shutter control to work with this SDK . any information will really help me , thanks alot :) I just edited this post cause i found this in the PDF from the site : Sets/Classes Basic Set (ON) move up Basic Set (OFF) move down Command classes basic: Basic_window_covering multilevel_switch does that mean that its as simple as on and off commands sent to appliance modules ?

Problem removing a failed controller

I am having trouble removing a failed controller from my network. I have tried device.RemoveFailedDevice(), but that always returns false. I am able to remove other failed devices with that call, but not a controller. Is there a special way I should be trying to remove a failed controller?

New with home automation - is z-wave for me?

Hey all, as stated in topic, I'm new to home automation. I'm trying to accomplish a few things (initially) - I would like to know if I can accomplish these things with z-wave:

1- Ability to monitor movement in a room and activate cameras & lights

2- Ability to monitor the door bell and swtch the TV to another input to show a camera feed mounted outside the door

2a) On the same note as the above, would need a wireless camera of some sort to transmit a feed to the computer (or other device to get it displayed on the tv)

3) Adjust temperature of heating/ac systems if "no one is home" (motion detectors being quiet for a certain period of time?)

4) Work as a security system to detect opened doors and windows.
