    Locked Reply Contact

Thank you for your interest in the ControlThink Z-Wave PC SDK--and welcome to the forum!

What is the Z-Wave PC SDK?
The Z-Wave PC SDK is a software development kit for Windows computers.  It contains the ControlThink.ZWave programming library for the .NET framework and a high-quality USB Z-Wave controller from Intermatic.  The SDK provides a powerful, object-oriented way to monitor, control, and configure networks of Z-Wave devices.

It is also very easy to use--turn on a light or change a thermostat set point with just one line of code!

Who can use the Z-Wave PC SDK?
The SDK is designed for both the enthusiast and professional software developer.  It is perfect for educational purposes, custom smart home installations, prototypes of PC software, and for commercial software applications.  It is compatible with all .NET programming languages, v1.0 or greater.

Where can I get the Z-Wave PC SDK?  How much does it cost?
You can the Z-Wave PC SDK from ControlThink or an authorized reseller.

    Z-Wave PC SDK: $69.95
Includes: ControlThink Z-Wave USB Adapter, license to ControlThink.ZWave library, code samples, and documentation

Z-Wave PC SDK Starter Kit: $149.95

Does the programming library work with other USB or RS232 controllers?
The programming library in the SDK is licensed for use with its companion Intermatic USB controller.  However, for commercial licensees, it may be used with other Z-Wave PC Controllers.

To help get you started on your first Z-Wave software project, customers who pre-order the Z-Wave PC SDK now will get access to the SDK Beta forums, where they can download a copy of the (stable) ControlThink.ZWave v1.1 library.  The beta is licensed for use with any Serial (RS232) PC Controller or the ACT ZCU000 USB PC Controller.

Is the Z-Wave PC SDK compatible with other Z-Wave devices?
The Z-Wave PC SDK is Z-Wave certified, and will interoperate with all other Z-Wave certified products, regardless of manufacturer.  It has also been tested to the same stringent reliability standards of all ControlThink products.

Will the Z-Wave PC SDK be updated to support new device types?
We will be updating the programming library with support for new device types--generally before those devices arrive on the market.  Minor updates will be provided at no additional cost.

Why did you create the Z-Wave PC SDK?
It is our desire to see every homeowner have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of home control technology.  A huge part of the adoption of any new technology is the opportunity for both the enthusiast and professional software developer to test and adopt these technologies.  We believe that our customers will be a huge part of making this dream a reality, and we thank you for that.

As a "thank you" gift, we introduce the Z-Wave PC SDK :)

Does the Z-Wave PC SDK use technology from other ControlThink products?
The SDK indeed does come from the same code branches as other ControlThink high-realibility products.  The quality of the SDK benefits from the large-scale real world testing that we do with all of our products.  We wouldn't have it any other way.

I am a software developer.  How can I use the programming library in my own applications?
Simply e-mail sales@controlthink.com, and we'll get you a commercial licensing agreement.  It's inexpensive and easy to license the ControlThink.ZWave library, and with it you can integrate Z-Wave support into your software in a matter of hours or days.

I have more questions.  Where can I ask them?
Please, ask them here!  If they're technical in nature, please use the technical support forum.  If they relate to a beta version of the SDK, please use the beta technical support forum.

You can also e-mail us at sales@controlthink.com or support@controlthink.com
