    New SDK availability?

    Hello,

Any word on when you will be releasing an updated SDK?  I purchased the SDK last year and have been experiencing many issues using this most recent beta.  I am really not able to utilize this SDK within the application I am writing until you release a new version.  Please let me know when you are planning to do so.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

Great question.  It has been over a year since the last release.  I think we have been more than patient and waiting!

Is development on the SDK dead?

There have been many many think essentials updates by Matt so I assume that they only care about updating the Thinkessentials software now and screw the SDK users who spent money on purchasing the SDK. They must have more sales through thinkessentials and thus only care to support it.

Bad form controlthink. I feel very ripped off. its literally been over a year since you released an update for the SDK but have released several updates to the ThinkEssentials software.

Yeah... I just plain gave up developing anything.  I developed two fairly complex applications but I could see the SDK support was falling off so I just gave up on them.  Nevermind the issue of licensing that was never addressed after multiple emails and phone calls.  In other words, it is not clear on how/whether I can distribute an application (for profit or free) after I developed it.

Mikla,  I spoke to Chris Walker before he left ControlThink the very same question.  He said we can distribute our applications based on the 1.3 SDK because the licensing is stored on the ControlThink USB ThinkStick not to the SDK.   So I have been distributing my application for a year now.   The thing that sucks is for users that don't have a controlThink USB stick but have say an Intermatic HA22 there is no easy way for them to use my app unless they purchase a full SDK license for their PC.   I was hoping ControlThink would come up with a simple pricing model for us developers to allow any USB Stick to work with our built applications and not just the ControlThink USB Stick.

No, you don't have to buy the full SDK in order to get a ThinkStick.  Agreed, it stinks that a user with a USB stick other than the ThinkStick will have to buy a ThinkStick, but at least they don't have to buy a full SDK.
