Problems with Vizia RF+ and Intermatic

Rather than confuse a thread I have in the TE beta section, I'd like to use this as a separate train to see if anyone else is experiencing problems with the Vizia RF+ switches.

All my devices, with the exception of the four Vizia's, are from Intermatic. I had one Vizia switch installed in a far corner of the house and it has been flawless for about a month. A week ago I added three more. They are in a central hallway with two of the three switches in the same junction box.

Once added to the network, I performed a re-optimize and everything worked perfectly. However, 4-6 hours later devicesjust started dropping off the network. They displayed the icon of a red circle with a line through it. Attempts to reach the device impacted were without success. I have now removed the three new Vizia switches from my network. Immediately afterwards the impacted devices were available once again.

I will run the netwok for 24 hours before adding one of the switches. Then wait another 24 hours and repeat....

Has anyone else had problems with Vizia RF+ switches or is this a software problem on TE?

    Hi All

Something has just struck me and my apologies of this is a VERY basic question but, in addition to my Intermatic and Leviton devices, I havetwo Intermatic HA09 controllersand one Leviton Vizia ZWave RS-232 module.

Do I need to remove and re-add these devices to the network each time a new device is added?

    Hi All

After discussions with a number of peopel I have done the following:

    1. Backed out of the 2.1.2 release in favor of running 2.1.1(23)
    2. Optimize the network.
    3. Let it run for 24 hours to see if there are any problems.
    4. Add the Vizia RF+ devices on-by-one and note any impact.

Firstly a HUGE thank you for those who have helped. Attached are two images. The first shows the network with all the Vizia RF+ switches (displayed with the bulb icon) added. The second shows the network about 10 minutes after the "troublesome" switch in the top middle was removed.

     4 Vizia RF+ switches

     3 Vizia RF+ switches

    Any thoughts?

I'd double check your network to ensure you don't have duplicate node numbers.

I have very inconsistent behavior until I figured out that somehow an Intermatic HA03 and a Vizia RF RZI06 had the same node number on the network. Some controllers thought one thing and others thought something different, even just after updating the controlers them from the RZCPG primary. I also had TE havin inconsistent names for the same dimmer icon (one name if you hovered the mouse over it and a different one if you right clicked properties).

    Hi sglaser

Thanks for the suggestion. It's an excellent bit of housekeeping I shouldhave done ages ago. Sadly it has had no impact on my network. I have also deleted, reset and then re-added my HA09 controllers.

What is very interestesting is that inevitably the same four devices will show up with red question marks. Any attempt to change their state (On, Off, Dim) will result in the unreachable symbol being shown. However, shutting down TE and then restarting it fixes the problem and the devices are reachable once again.

    Odd.

Re: Problems with Vizia RF+ and Intermatic

    Hi All

A quick update on my struggles. I have pretty much been through every combination of physically removing and then adding each of the Vizia RF+ switches. In addition I have checked for duplicate node numbers and mapped the connectivity of the devices that seem to be consistently impacted and I've come up empty handed.

It is worth noting though that the only devices that are impacted are those that are two hops away from the server running TE. Futhermore, connection to these devices is lost after about 4 hours of TE running. To restore connectivity, all I need to do is shutdown TE and the restart it. Everything works perfectly for another four hours or so.

For now I'm going to remove the Vizia RF+ switches and replace them with the timer switches that were originally installed.

Unless I'm missing something fundamental, this really feels like a software problem.

     Kaizen28,

I have this exact same problem.  My Intermatic netowkr was fine until I added a Vizia RF+ wall switch.  Now I have the same troubles as you describe above.  Any Intermatic device 2 hops away can no longer be seen.
