Can't Connect to Vizia 4 Button Scene Controller

I have been trying to connect to a Leviton Vizia 4 Button Scene Controlller with no luck.

This is a small system with (1) scene controller and (4) lamp modules currently.

The 4 Lamps modules have been added and work from the software just fine, but I can not get the scene controller to join the network.

I have reset the unit (hold down 1&3 till the Leds turn Red) and I have tried to add the device when in the leds are orange, but no matter what, the software says failed to add device, try again.

There is no other controller, so nothing else could be in control.

I was using ThinkStick 4.25 which I just upgraded to 4.30, and I will have to try on my next site visit.

I am using ControlThink 2.1 and I also tried the new Beta 2.1.1.22.

Is there anything else I can try to get this homeowner happy? I need to be prepared and internet access is limited when onsite.

    Try this:

    1. Reset the controller
    2. Put the controller into learn mode (by pressing and holding the appropriate button(s) until the LEDs turn amber)
    3. Press "Add Device" on the software [important to do this AFTER the LEDs are amber]
    4. Wait about ten seconds, and it should start adding the controller

Also, be sure to be within a few feet of the in-wall controller with your USB Z-Wave adapter.

     OK will do.

Seems the important step is not to push any buttons on the scene controller after it is in amber mode because when I did that before it always "failed to add device". So I'll try waiting the 10 seconds next time.

And the Think Stick is literally 1" from the wall when I was testing before, so I am pretty sure that wasn't the problem...

    Will let you know.

I actually had this happen today as well, and it's a bit flaky compared to how easy it is to add a normal switch. I found that you kind of have to time the ThinkStick side and the amber  mode (button 1 and 3) to get it to learn. Took a couple resets (1+3 until red) and a couple more attempts to join but eventually it worked.
