A "release candidate" means software that we think is ready to ship, but we put it out there for people to play with for a week or two to make sure :) We also do a bunch of internal testing internally during the release candidate stage.

Yes, we plan to include that feature in the interim update next week. Actually, there may be two interim updates (in which case it wil be in the second update).
