Please try it on another PC, and let me know.  If it works on the other PC, then it's either some sort of configuration or driver issue.

I tested on a second PC.

The V2.1 beta started up once and I was able to add a lamp controller, and the ZIR000 to the network (although an icon for the ZIR000 did NOT appear). I stopped V2.1 beta and attempted to restart it and it is now crashing at startup. I tried removing the setup folder and re-starting, but it now consistently crashes at startup.

I also tested with V2.0 and that is working just fine.

     Bugger.

Could you try just adding the lamp module and then restarting--and seeing if it's the act of adding the ZIR000 which is causing troubles (figuratively--it's probably a bug in that case).

I'm running a ZIR000 here with ThinkEssentials 2.1 without any hitches--but I may be on a non-cursed computer of some sort...

I can't add just the lamp module because the V2.1 beta no longer starts - it throws an exception during the loading splash screen - just like the other PC was doing.

V2.1 beta only started once on the new PC, now it consistently gets the error.

    fritzycat1,

Can you start up ThinkEssentials 2.0 and reset the USB stick from there?

Chris, thanks for your persistance on this issue. I sure appreciate it.

I reset the usb stick using TE V2.0 on the new PC. Here are the steps I followed on the new PC:

    Resetting USB / Cleaning installation:

Started TE 2.0 - starts OK
    Reset USB Adapter
    Deleted C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ControlThink folder
    restart TE 2.0
    Entered license key
Selected time zone (just used the New York default)
    TE2.0 - starts OK
Unregistered all devices (ZIR000 and lamp module)
    Stopped TE 2.0
    Deleted C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ControlThink folder
    Re-testing TE 2.1 Beta:
    Started TE2.1 beta
    Entered license key
Selected time zone (just used the New York default)
    TE2.1 Beta crashes
Restarted TE2.1 beta witout HA22 plugged in

dialog appears - prompts for USB Adapter
    plugged in HA22
TE 2.1 beta immedialty crashes - I didn't even need to click 'connect' on the dialog

    fritzycat1,

Just so I make sure I understand this right, your USB adapter is completely reset when you're seeing this issue?

yes, I selected the option in TE 2.0 to reset the USB stick first.

Alright, this sounds like a "driver" support issue in relation to v2.1.  I'll e-mail you a link to the bug report I've filed for you.

Is anyone else having success or failure using ThinkEssentials 2.1 with the Intermatic HA22 USB adapter?  I haven't heard of any other issues, but of course am concerned "just in case."  We updated our software to support native 64-bit mode, but that's the only significant change in that part of the codebase--and it has tested out great here.

thanks again Chris. I don't think I've ever witness anyone as dedicated and responsive to resolving an issue like this. Let me know what else I can do to help follow up.

    chris,

I haven't seen the bug report in my email yet. Once you send that to me, can I follow up directly with the developers of the drivers?
