Hi cstoebe,
I took an interest in this thread since I saw you were running with Vista. I am too. I tried disconnecting my usb stick like you did and my computer crashed just like yours with the blue screen of death. I won't be doing that again...
Since Chris hasn't had a chance to respond yet, here's how I would add the command line option:
1. Right click on the ThinkEssentials shortcut and select Properties.
2. Select the Shortcut tab.
3. In the Target field, type the full path of the application for this shortcut. Mine looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\ControlThink\ThinkEssentials\ThinkEssentials.exe" /com4
4. Click OK to apply.
For the sake of being thorough, I would check to see if your controller is on COM4 by going to 'Control Panel', 'System', 'Device Manager', then expanding 'Ports'.
Also note: I couldn't edit the ThinkEssentials shortcut that was installed on my desktop during installation. I think its a new Microsoft security thing, so I deleted that one and created a new shortcut by navigating to the ThinkEssentials installation folder, right-clicking on the .exe and creating a new shortcut.
Hope this helps. Chris probably has a better answer...
