Can not set the time of day for a schedule?

     Hi,

using the latest (200) build of 2.0, I am trying to set a schedule for a HA18C switch.  I have created the zone ok, and when I click on the Modify schedule menu item, it brings up a window I can use to set the name of the schedule, which zone it is for, and which days the schedule applies to.  But I do not see any way to change the time of day for the schedule?  The docs say to the right of the window, but the window is not resizeable and it ends right where the weekdays end.  How can I set the time of day for my schedules?

    Cheers,

        Kari

    Kari,

Are you running "large fonts" on your PC?  I have heard of a few instances where this causes the time box to be hidden.  We've got a bug report in for it to try to remedy the situation with an update (2.01, 2.10, etc.)...

To workaround the issue for now, turn off "large fonts" on your PC.  Then again, if you aren't running in "large fonts" mode, let us know and we can diagnose further...

P.S. It's bug #218 in our database, just for reference.

     Hi Chris,

thanks for a fast response.  My  Display Properties window Appearances tab shows Windows and buttons as Windows XP style, Color Scheme as Default (blue), and Font size as Normal.  I do have a wide-screen monitor, and run it at 1600 x 1024.  Don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm running Vista, and there's a seperate setting for 96 DPI vs 120 DPI fonts.  Is there such a setting over on XP?

Could you post or e-mail me a screenshot of the schedules window?  Or perhaps we could do a remote access session and see what's going on in person?

Re: Can not set the time of day for a schedule?

     Hi Chris,

spot on as usual.  I had to go into advanced Video settings, set the fonts to 96 DPI rather than 120.  Then I had to reboot, but when the system came back up, presto I had time setup buttons in the Schedule window.  I set the timer to be on from sundown till sunup.  I will check it when I get the switch to work from my PC.

I would, however, prefer to use the 120 DPI font, it is easier on the old eyes.  Any chance of getting the problem fixed soon?

     So here are some suggestions:

First, please add a ramdomize time period so I can turn on my porch light on a random amount of time before or after sunset (or whenever), where I control the maximum time variation.  That would help the place look lived in, even when I am on vacation.  My old porch light timer had such a feature.

Second, please allow some time period offset from sunset/sundown.  For example, I might want to turn the Xmas lights on a half hour before sundown, as it is already getting darker then.  Or maybe I want to save money and wish to turn the lights on an hour after sundown.   I can also combine the two features to set the lights to come on any time from an hour before sundown to sundown.

Third, I think we disagree on what a schedule is.  I had to set two schedules, one for lights on and a second for lights off.  But I really just want a single schedule that sets lights on or off the way I want them.  I would suggest a timescale across the window for a day and a line going across, with me able to move the line higher or lower at any time I want.  Then repeat seven of these, one below the other, to get a weeks schedule.  Then allow me to name them, like Vacation, Xmas, Halloween, Normal.  Now I can run my normal schedule until I go on vacation, then I switch to the Vacation schedule, etc.

    Cheers,

     Chris,

I like Kari's Idea about the schedules.  It would be a lot easier to do and manage.

I see that I am not the only one with "old eyes"

     Ditto the randomization

    Hi Chris,

I have a toshiba laptop running vista.  I am not sure where dpi setting is specifically.  I have changed the font size for menu and various other GUI features but there is not one specific DPI change for the laptop in general.  Could you let me know how you access and change this on your pc/laptop.

     Thanks
