Error connecting to Z-Wave controller; check availability

The point here is that if ThinkEssentials is running, from my experience, your SDK application will not.

When running the sample from coding4fun I received the error: "Error connecting to Z-Wave controller; check availability".  This was solved by terminating ThinkEssentials from running in the background (in windows it shows in the bottom right-hand corner).  It seems this capability cannot be turned off via the program itself and must be removed (at least in Windows) via the "start-up" programs area.  (admittedly vauge).

My motivation for this post?  I took my small mind a long time to figure that out.  Just trying to save you all some aggrevation.  :)

Oh, yea well, I live less than 30 miles from NY city.  I figure you're in Utah.  In short, consider yourself fortnate.  But I digress.

I had another post about code samples.  I'm more of a network guy, but hey - I gotta get my Christmas lights done.  In summary, I can't code but I ain't dumb.  I need to see a couple piles of code.  Dimming is key.  To the point, I haven't seen an open download/upload area on your site.  (Although it's been said I'm not a good looker.)  Where do I find more code samples?

It's all trivia from here:  I got this 40+ foot fir tree beside my house.  Every year I get lights up there, but it keeps growing taller.  And, each year I get a kick out of somebody new asks me how the heck I do it.  Last year I added a new twist.  I put white lights (set A)  and I also put up colored lights (set B).  X10 took the job of dimming down A and dimming up B ( and vice versa).  While X10 did the job much of the time, it also got confused. But, then agin, so did people who visited the house - so it was kinda fun.  And there was logic to prevent the confusion. But, the whole thing was much more effort than it needed to be, leading to a vow of "never again".

Fish tanks, Christmas lights, night lights, front porch lights, etc - dude, this is at least a part of your market.  I'm having a hard time finding code examples.  Please don't point me to one sample, or something that needs to be converted from C# to VB. I'm looking for VB.  If there is nothing, then could you start an upload/download area?

    billl,

Right now, the best thing to do is to share code samples here in the forums.

That said, we're currently redesigning the ControlThink website, and are creating a "solutions" section where we'll have samples showing how to do a variety of tasks.  We'll be integrating all of this with the community (forums) section, for sure.

Any recommendations as to how we should integrate that together?

That is a classic diversionary answer.

Hmm I know this post is a few months old but ... well i may or not have missed the point here and this post will mean nothing.

Ok here it goes could you add a section in the

Z-Wave® SDKs where there would post for code samples ONLY and another for a wish list or help that with making some that could again end up posted in that section.

For us new people it would help a lot and maybe even create a community area to share the ideas with other new and pro programmers, aswell and not have them cluttered with other messages that did not pertain to that. As I have searched thru these forums sometimes for answers and ended up misdirected.

It may of course require some sort of moderator from time to time to move post around to their appropriate places but it would help the SDK community from my point of view.

anyways thats my 2 cents take it as you may
