    kkarhi,

Please try clicking on the device a few times to see if there's a weak link somewhere in the system.  If it had the red circle/slash and/or the question mark, that means there are communication issues and the timer is probably unrelated.

No more question marks or circles, but the sunrise is still not working, though the sunset is.  I have gone back to fixed times.  Please tell me if there is anything else you want me to try.

I have given up on getting the sunset function to work with the new version and orderd a remote control.  It's very frustrating this functionality is still not working as it was the primary reason I purchased the software in the first place.

    jmlestrange,

From your previous post, it looks like there's an overflow (math glitch with a number that's too big) somewhere which is causing this.  We're trying to hunt it down, and hopefully we can take care of it for you in an upcoming 2.1 beta release...

By the way, mine is still going strong.  Haven't had any issues since upgrading to 2.1 on Vista.

Have you been able to reproduce the problem?  If not, and if you were to send me an instrumented version of TE, I could run it and send you any data files it created.

Thanks, kkarhi; we may take you up on that...

The issue doesn't seem to affect many users, so we're looking at a number of possibilities--including certain lat/lon coordinates.

Chris - I'm trying to do a clean reinstall of the software, but I seem to be missing something.  It doesn't show up in the "Add or Remove Programs" list, so I manually deleted the ThinkEssentials directory, and cleaned out the registry with anything containing "thinkessentials or "controlthink".  When I go to install the program again, it opens up with my previously made floorplan and devices.  Any thoughts on how to delete all the related files so I can try installing again?  (I'm not working on the sunset issues for this... since upgrading to 2.01 I now have several devices that won't turn off at night, and one device that won't connect).  Thanks.

    jmlestrange,

The floorplans and other settings are saved in the "common app data" folder.

On Vista, look under "C:\ProgramData\ControlThink\ThinkEssentials".  On XP, look under "\documents and settings\all users\application data\controlthink\thinkessentials" (I think--or something very close to that).

The problem arose.  It seems to be inconsistant though.  Nothing has changed, but it stopped working for about 5 days in a row, then worked again.

Newbee here so don't shoot me all at once but this is a long thread. It may be good to redefine the problem and consider hardware and environmental variables. RF interference, bad switch, doors closed/open, etc. OR maybe everyone should just move to Chicago. :-)

I am having a similar issue, except in my case it is the sunrise function that is not working.  I’ve watched the system over several days have never seen the sunrise function trigger my Z-wave devices.  I’ve also noticed that when I go to modify the schedule to use a set hour and not the sunrise feature that I get a .NET arithmetic error.  Any plans to fix this bug in the next update?

    Salthi,

Could you please do the following?

    1. Download the ThinkEssentials 2.1 beta (build 1) and validate that the bug you're seeing still exists.
    2. PM me verifying #1, along with the date you were trying to set the sunrise/sunset and the exactly location used in the software.

    Thanks!

Any luck reproducing my problem using the steps I sent you through PM Chris?

    Re: Sunset Not Working

We're trying, but it's working 100% of the time here for us.  We're going to build in some hooks to "trace" what's going on in your machine and go from there...
