Is the timer based on sunrise/sunset or is it at a fixed time?

On the sunset times.  The fixed times still work flawlessly.

Okay, that's great info.

Could you let the software run for the next few days and see if the sunset times just "stopped working" or if they work "on and off"?

If they work "on and off," it may be a date-sensitive issue.  If they stopped working completely, the next step is to restart your computer and the software--and see if they start working again.

No problem.  Also to reiterate this is the same issue as I had on my HP Windows XP box as I am now having on my Dell Windows Vista box.  Only thing that's remained constant is the Z-Wave network and the USB dongle.

On 3/30 it did not work.  Today, however, it did.  I am going to install 2.1 Beta 0 and see how that works as well!

Townshend: just to confirm--without restarting the software, it didn't work on 3/30 but then it did work on 3/31?

Also, did it work on a day previous to 3/30?  Or did you restart the software on 3/29 or 3/30?

3/25 - 3/28 it worked.

On 3/29 it stopped working and did not work on 3/30 either.  On 3/31 it worked again without any reboot.  I also upgraded to 2.1 the night of 3/31 and the lights sunset timer worked today (4/1). Hope this helps!

Let it run for a few more days, and that'll give us the info we need to know if it was a date-specific issue...

Today worked perfectly.  Still on 2.1.

Still running solid throuh 4/6 on 2.1.

 Downloaded the 2.1 beta and turned on sunset/sunrise on one set of lights for testing.  The beta at least does not have the random or the offset feature, will those come in the 2.1 release or later?  (Random says at a random time within my specified time limit, e.g. within +/- 15 minutes of sunset.  The offset says at such and such offset, e.g. a half hour after sunrise.)

The random offset if a frequently-requested feature, and one we're working on.  We're trying to make sure there are no sunrise/sunset timer issues in the software first (i.e. make sure the base is working great before adding more complexity :)).

I upgraded to the new version and still am not having luck getting sunset to work.  I did copy an error I received below regarding an arithmetic error.  Hope it helps.  Thanks!

It looks like you got this error when you clicked "sunrise" or "sunet" on the scheduled events window.  Is that correct?  Can you reproduce the error?  If so, can you PM me your location information (city, state, country) and what date this problem occured on (and what time of day)?

 Missed sunrise event.  Details:

Location:    Austin, TX

Time:        Sunrise at  7:10:58 AM, time checked:   7:21 AM

Date:        4/8/2008

Note:        The switch has a red question mark over it in TE.  Clicking on it, the question mark went away and a red slashed circle showed over it.  Clicking on it again made the red circle go away and the light go off.  This light has worked reliably when the timer was set to a fixed time near sunrise.
